Screening in The Playhouse, Portrush on Thursday 11th February 2026 at 7.30pm
We are very excited to work with QFT's LUMI Young Programmers and the 2026 Science Festival to bring this fascinating film to the big screen!
Released in 1977, The Last Wave sees director Peter Weir explore the darker edges of his uncanny Australian cinema. When a Sydney lawyer reluctantly agrees to defend a group of Aboriginal men accused of murder, he becomes entangled in a case where legal reality, ancient knowledge, and environmental catastrophe collide. As violent weather intensifies and the world itself seems to fracture, the film unfolds as an ominous, atmospheric meditation on climate, colonialism, and cultural misunderstanding.
